The main aim of the project was to create information and educational materials about climate system of high scientific quality but in understandable form. The material created is dedicated for all persons interested in climate system and climate change who wish to enlarge their knowledge of those issues, both during the school education and apart from it.
Encyclopaedia is divided into eight thematic fields and each field is further divided into basic level and advanced level. The thematic fields are the following:
• Troposphere
• Stratosphere
• Weather
• Clouds and aerosols
• Urban climate
• Oceans
• Climate and agriculture
• People and climate
Thematic fields consist of pages explaining particular issues, and of pages with the proposals of excercises and tests for individual work. The Encyclopaedia was prepared in a few languages so as to reach as many persons in many countries as possible. For persons who do not deal with climatic issues in professional way, it might be difficult to understand materials on that topic in a foreign language.
Since 2013, Encyclopaedia is located on the server of the Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland, where it hss been continuously updated and adjusted to changing technical environments. If you wish to enter and read Encyclopaedia, it is necessary to set a free account in the educational service of the Jagiellonian University: OPEN UJ.
